Anthology #!

H O M E

Colliding Lines is no longer a press, but when it was, it created H O M E, an anthology of poems remixed and reimagined. H O M E asked ten poets to submit work for visual interpretation by six typographic artists. Neither the poet nor the designer spoke to each other or knew the other’s work prior to this project. The resulting pieces represent two perspectives, each poem possessing a new meaning created collaboratively between text and design.

The poem was put into this fantastic piece of art by @El_lanham (on Instagram). El is an amazing artist and a beautiful person. I can't thank them enough for the gift of this art and the feelings it creates on the page. It was an honor to be part of this project.

Sacré-Cœur

I am a quartered sanctuary, devoted

to never missing a beat, fashioned

into a fist ready to punch out of a chest.

This inheritance feels heavy in its responsibility

as caretaker to a fortress with a broken

lock. Oh, I have been shattered. Allowed

thieves to plunder and pillage, leaving

me empty; yes I sometimes feel

disconnected. Build walls of obstruction,

this cage of bones - protection. I am a compass,

I can rely on. My chambers revered

for their beauty, each exquisite

and brimming with passions. Seeking an equal

soul has always been my desire. Born

from an ancestry grand in its abnormalities.

I am but a murmur wanting to be a valentine.

Sacre Coeur

In addition to creating the amazing art above, the team at Colliding Lines also collaborated with musicians to record music as we read our poems.

It's a jazzy, amazing piece that I am so honored to be part of Nick Murray's work.
