2020 Winter Anthology: Healing Felines and Femmes

by OtherWordly Press

We will not be silenced. We are not ashamed to be part of the feminine divine in a masculine world. No matter what 2020 dealt to our communities we stated strong. This anthology of poems is a testament to empowered feminists of all kinds. Hear us and raise your heart and vibrations so 2021 will bring in the light.

What’s for Dinner?

My daughter came out during a card game.

Whose turn is it next? I’m gay.

What should we have for dinner?

My daughter is an artist, doodling

in notebooks; laughing at her own

thoughts.

She can capture the crease

of jeans or a wrinkled tee

with a creator’s eye.

Threw away all her dresses before college.

Her favorite hoodie is bright yellow

with a rainbow on it.

College keeps her inspired; she has lots of friends.

She’s happy.

My parents didn’t support my going to school.

Did not value following

dreams, paycheck to paycheck a way of life,

a future of only next month.

I worked in high school, I paid

for college, dropped out,

no one cared.

I love her for everything she is.

I already knew, looked up at her and said,

Chicken Fettuccine.
